The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), established in 1936, is one of India’s most respected universities for social and educational reform. In 2012, TISS launched the School of Skill Education (SSE) with support from the Ministry of HRD to bring dignity, structure, and certification to India’s fragmented skill training ecosystem.
Unlike traditional colleges, TISS SSE offers Work Integrated Training (WIT) programs — blending real-world jobs with academic instruction. Students don’t just get trained — they graduate with nationally recognized degrees while earning and working.
TISS SSE has trained over 80,000 students across 27 states — in partnership with 300+ industry and implementation partners.
